now that Christmas is over, let's get on with 2006

Well, the gift scene this year was books and DVDs:

Books:

• The Computer: an illustrated history which missed out on the Commodore Amiga computer and Multics operating system on the GE/Honeywell 600/6000 computers

• 2061: Odyssey Three by Arthur Clarke

• 3001: The Final Odyssey by Arthur Clarke

• The Known World by Edward Jones which Oprah described the other day as being the best book she's read in the past twenty years; a story of slavery

DVDs:

• The Ultimate Carson Collection - three disc library features some of Johnny and The Tonight Show's best moments and most memorable guests from the 1960's through the final show

• Oprah 20th anniversary six DVD set

• Stargate Atlantis season one five DVD set in new thinner jewel case with two DVDs per case half as thick as the older jewel case

Lots of reading and viewing for the new year.
