Today is the first day of spring and winter just arrived....
You read that right!!!!
This is the year Vancouver weather came to Alberta and we just had the biggest snowfall of the entire winter in the past week. My friend, who was beginning to think his purchase of a snow blower last fall was the worst investment in the past decade got to spend an hour and a half playing with his no longer "new" toy and cleared the sidewalks around his house.
The good news is the darn white stuff should be gone in two weeks or so.
Managed to find a copy of "X-15", a movie I'd seen when it first came out and never thought would find it on DVD but A & B Sound in downtown Edmonton had a copy. Enjoyed it a lot. With the "Right Stuff", "From the Earth to the Moon", "Apollo 13" and other space DVDs it makes an incredible story.
Recently, I also got "Riverdance: Geneva" and am enjoying it a lot. With a new five-disc Sony DVD player, also back to being able to quickly switch between five different CD/DVD discs without having to go thru the collection. I had to replace the Toshiba player as a friend gave me a DVD recorded in DVD - RW format and wouldn't play on the older machine. I will take it to BC at Christmas and give it to my sister and make sure all DVDs I send her are written in a format she can play.
Which brings me to the new computer coming this fall with Windows Vista, dual-layer DVD read/write, LCD monitor and all the other toys. One thing I will add is ATI All In Wonder so can save TV programs to the computer and convert VHS tapes to DVD. Next will be to get my record collection converted to MP3 format.
My aunt and uncle from Vancouver are stopping over for a day so will go out for lobster. I can hardly wait.
Have a great spring.
Cheers, Ray
